Your website is very user friendly. I plan to visit next
year & explore the area. My father's family (Samuel &
Mary Jane Cochran) originated in Solsgirth, so if anyone
has any genealogy information they'd like to share, it
would be greatly appreciated!

I am looking for any reference to my great uncle Frank
Wiseman who came from Essex, England to Birtle at the
beginning of the 20th Century. He joined the Canadian
Militia in August 1918. He farmed there afterwards with
his wife Annie. Any info greatly appreciated. Best
wishes from England.

Several decades ago, in the early 1950's, a fire
destroyed a church in Birtle. Subsequently, the
congregation, with support from the surrounding
communities, put on an opera to raise money for the new
bell. I am looking for any information that anyone on
the Fire Department, or, indeed, anyone that you know,
might have, including recollections and anecdotes, about
the event. My email address is
gwnwrite@mts.net,
and my phone number is 204-831-0824. Call collect.
Thank you.

Love the website, Birtle used to be where I went for
wedding socials long time ago. This is , by far, the

Heading out to a bluegrass festival "Birdtail Valley
Pasture Picking" on May long weekend, so decided to check
out Birtle (nearby it seems). I may never come back to Ontario
after looking at the photo gallery. My kind of quiet town.
Hope to see some of you at the event. We're the ones with
mandolins and guitars, dobros and autoharps strapped to
ourselves!
